Team Chess Championship 2022 - Bangladesh. |

The
Sheikh Russel Cup Invitational Team Chess Championship 2022 was
held in Dhaka, Bangladesh from the 13th to the 17th of October
2022. A team consisting of five players competed in the event.
Mr Kanishka Anuradha Welipitiya worked as the team manager. Teams
from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal & Pakistan
competed.The Sri Lankan team consisted of the IM L M S T De Silva,
FM Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage, Lisara Samadhith Tennakoon, Achinthya
Shamen Kaluarachchi and S D B K Senevirathne. |

the bronze medal at Asian Amateur Women Chess Championship 2022

G P Y Wijesuriya a member of the Sri Lanka Women's National Team
became the second runner-up in the Asian Amateur Women Chess Championship
2022 which was concluded on 05th October 2022 in Muscat, Oman.
The event was held from 29th September to 05th October 2022. 51
Players from 13 countries competed in this tournament. The tournament
was held as 09 rounds event with a time control of 90 minutes
plus 30 seconds increment from move 01. In the initial starting
rank list, WCM Pasindi Wijesuriya ranked 11th. She scored 7/9
points at the end of the tournament and she only lost two games.
With her performance at the event, Added to her bronze medal,
she will gain 32 ELO ratings. H M H Janandani Abeysinghe also
a member of the Sri Lanka Women's National Team competed in this
tournament and she scored 5.5/9 points and abled to ranked 13.

of Sri Lanka has acknowledged the need for polished chess trainers
in the country. And hence the National Chess Trainers Commission
has developed many programs and strategies to standardize the
skills of chess trainers in Sri Lanka. “Knowledge for
masters” is another unique attempt at developing skills
