44th Chess Olympiad 2022 – Round 6 |
Games of the 44th Chess Olympiad
2022 started on 29th July 2022 in Mahabalipuram Chennai. Olympiad consists
of two categories. They are the Open and Women's categories. Olympiad
will be held in the format of 11 rounds under the Swiss system of Olympiad
pairing system. |
The sixth round of both women's
and the open category was held on the 3rd of August 2022. It started at
03.00 pm. 186 teams were paired for the sixth round of the open section.
In the sixth round, Sri Lanka played against Scotland in the 40th match.
Sadly, Sri Lanka lost two games against Scotland. Sri Lanka scored 1.5
points where FM Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage & IM L M S T De Silva drew
their games. FM Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage went to a draw with his opponent,
FM Alan Tate. IM L M S T De Silva won his respective game against his
opponent, Waldhausen Gordon Frederick. At the end of round 6, Armenia,
USA and India 2 secured 1st,2nd and 3rd places respectively. Sri Lanka's
open team is going to play against Guatemala in the seventh round which
is going to commence at 3.00 pm on the 05th of August 2022. |
In the women’s section, 159
teams were paired for the sixth round. Sri Lanka was paired with the Chinese
Taipei team in the 56th match. Sri Lanka was tied up with the Chinese
Taipei team in the sixth round. Both the teams scored 2 points (2:2).
Where Desandhi Dhihansa Gamage managed to win her game and WCM G P Y Wijesuriya
and H M H Janandani Abeysinghe drew their respective games. After the
sixth round, India, Azerbaijan and Romania ranked first, second and third
respectively. Sri Lankan women's team is going to play against Kosovo
in the seventh round which is scheduled on the 05th of August 2022 at
3.00 pm. |
