VS Rahul of India and Melika Mohammadi of Iran wins the Championships

VS Rahul of India won the Asian Junior Blitz Championship 2021 scoring 6 ½ out of 7 games convincingly being unbeaten. He who won the Asian Junior Championships as well beat KA Galkotuwa, Kosala Amarathunga, SDBK Senevirathna(All three from Sri Lanka), Indian International Master Vardaan Nagpal, Orimi Gholami and Kian Poormosavi both from Iran and drew with top seed Mitabha Guha to win the Gold Medal. Sri Lanka National Chess Champion, Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage of Ananda College and our young talent, Susal De Silva of Nalanda College tied for the 2nd place and Ranindu got the Silver medal on higher tie breaker. Susal had to satisfy with the Bronze Medal.
Ranindu beat Oneja Abeysekara, Gayuru Fernando, Saranga Pathmasiri Pesandu Liyanage, Thisaga Hewawasam of Sri Lanka, Kian Poormosavi of Iran and lost to Orimi Gholami of Iran to reach 6 points. Susal managed to win with Sehas Bandara, Sanuth De Silva, Lalindu Sathmina, KA Galkotuwa, Lisara Tennakoon and SDBK Senevirathe while losing to Kian Poormosavi of Iran to achieve 6 points.
Savitha Priyanka
Melika Mohammadi of Iran tied with Women International Master and Asian Junior Girls Chess Champion, Shri Savitha from India with 6 points but won the Gold Medal and Championship with the higher tie breaker. Savitha was awarded the Silver Medal. Melika beat Vihansa Hewapathirana, Ranumi Dange, Devindi Vithana, Niklesha Tharushi, Sanudula Dahamdi of Sri Lanka and Anausha Mahdian of Iran while losing to Shri Savitha to score 6 points. Savitha beat Hansini Bandara, Piyumi Amaratunga, Desandui Gamage, Oneli Wilvalarachchi of Sri Lanka, Zainab Almaamari of UAE and Melika Mohammadi of Iran and lost to Sanudula Dahamdi of Musaeus College to reach 6 points.
K Priyanka after tying with Niklesha Tharushi with 5 ½ points came to 3rd place with the better tie breaker. She beat Punsadi Devaraja, Amaya Fernando, Onleli Wilvalaarachchi of Sri Lanka. Zainab Almaamari and Wafia Almamari of UAE and drew with Niklesha anmd lost to EFM Anousha Mahdian of Iran to score 5 ½ points for the 23rd place
The Asian Junior Blitz Chess Championships 2021 which is conducted by the Asian Chess Federation is organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka was arranged in a short notice. It was made open for all Junior Chess players of Sri Lanka and finally a total of 128 players (86 in open and 42 in Women) participated in the events. The events were held according to Swiss System in 7 rounds with the time control of 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment from move one.

GM Dimytro Komrov - Ukraine IM Suvrajit Saha - India
Parallel event for Asian Juniors was held among the officials of the team with the participation of two Grandmasters, Dimytro Komrov of Ukraine and M Shaymsundar of India was held as a 9 round Round Robin event. Indian International Master Suvarajit Saha, Sri Lankan Women International Master Sachini Ranasinghe and Kazakhstan WFM, Bhakyt Balaknova participated in the event. Indian Grandmaster, Shaymsundar won the event scoring 8 points out of 9 games being unbeaten. Grandmaster Komrov was 2ns with 7 ½ points while International Master Saha was third with 7 points.
