44th FIDE World Chess Olympiad 2022 - Round 7 |
Games of the 44th Chess Olympiad
2022 started on 29th July 2022 in Mahabalipuram Chennai. Olympiad consists
of two categories. They are the Open and Women's categories. Olympiad
will be held in the format of 11 rounds under the Swiss system of Olympiad
pairing system. |
The seventh round of both women's
and the open category was held on the 5th of August 2022. It started at
03.00 pm. 186 teams were paired for the seventh round of the open section.
In the seventh round, Sri Lanka played against Guatemala in the 48th match.
Sadly, Sri Lanka lost the round against Guatemala 1.5 - 2.5. Sri Lanka
scored 1.5 points where CM Ranindu Dilshan drew his game with his opponent,
IM Carlos A Juraez Flores and IM L M S T De Silva won his respective game
against his opponent, IM Wilson Estuardo Lorenzana. At the end of round
7, Armenia, Uzbekistan & India 2 were placed in 1st,2nd and 3rd positions
respectively. Sri Lanka's open team is going to play against Cote d’ivoire
in the eighth round which is going to commence at 3.00 pm on the 06h of
August 2022. |
In the women’s section, 159
teams were paired for the seventh round. Sri Lanka was paired with the
Kosovo team in the 53rd match. Sri Lanka won all 4 games against the Kosovo
team in the seventh round. Desandhi Dhihansa Gamage, WCM G P Y Wijesuriya,
WIM S D Ranasinghe and H M H Janandani Abayasinghe won their respective
games. After the seventh round, India, Ukraine and Armenia ranked first,
second and third respectively. Sri Lankan women's team is going to play
against Nigeria in the seventh round which is scheduled on the 06th of
August 2022 at 3.00 pm. |
