IM CRG Krishna and S Nevinka De Silva wins Dhamso International Chess Festival 2018 |

8th Dhamso International Chess Festival 2018 was held in beautiful down south place, Ambalangoda. Tournament venue was S Thomas De Silva Memorial Auditorium in Dharmasoka College and Event was held from 19th to 23rd April, 2018. |

IM CRG Krishna (IND,
2415) convincingly won the 8th Dhamso with 8.5/9 points without losing
a game. He only drew in the 3rd round to Hevidu Samarakoon (SRI, I439).
Two players scored 8/9 points and tied for the first runner up but with
the tie breakers IM Marcos Llaneza secured the first runner up place and
CM Kevin Ranidu Silva had to satisfy with the bronze medal. |

There were nearly
400 players competed for the title of DICF player of the year. Including
two toughest IMs from Spain and India. IM Marcos Llaneza Vega from Spain
and IM CRG Krishna from India. |

In women category S Nevinka De Silva Kanakarathna won the championship. She and two players tied with 6.5/9 points for the title. BKD Liyanage and NT Abeywardana. But with the tie break criteria Nevinka secured the championship. | |
The Closing Ceremony
of the Championship took place yesterday evening, on 23rd of April, and
was attended by the Mr Shashika De Silva, Hony Secretary of Chess Federation
of Sri Lanka Mrs Buddhi Panagoda, Principal of Dharmaoska College Mr.
Hasitha Kesara Weththimuni, and other distinguished chess figures and
Chess enthusiasts of the country. |

The Championship was played in 09 rounds, Swiss system, in accordance with the FIDE Rules of Chess with time control 90 minutes with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from the move one. | |
The total prize fund of the event was Rs. 400,000.00. Also Trophies, Medals and Certificates were distributed among the winners. | |
