AKCC CHESS FESTIVAL – 2012

The above AKCC Chess Festival was held at the Russian Centre Auditorium in last weekend and it was organized by the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club of the Russian Centre in Colombo to commemorate their 14th Anniversary. They conducted a very successful Age Group Chess Tournament among the members of the club in 10 categories as under 7/9/11/13 & over 13 for Girls & Boys.

President and the Chief Chess Instructress of the Anatoly Karpov Chess Club, Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya was the Chief Arbiter of this tournament and Mr. Udara Hewagama, Mr. Nishantha Withanage, Mr. Prabuddha Wijesinghe and Mr.Viraj were assistant Arbiters.

Mr. Andrey M. Nazarkin , Director of the Russian Centre in Colombo graced the Award Ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals for the winners and all the other players got the certificates. .After distributing the prizes, Mr. Nazarkin, the Chief Guest played an exhibition game with the Olympiad Gold Medalist Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya.
