Sri lanka National Novices chess Championship 2009

Milan Anjula won the Sri Lanka national (Novices Division) Chess Championship 2009 on the tie breaker, after tying with five more players. The Sri Lanka National (Novices Division) Chess Championship conducted by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka was held at Royal College Colombo from 14th to 17th January 2009 according to the Swiss System over 7 rounds. A total of 142 players participated in the event.
Milan Anjula, MBMI Anuruddha, GPKPG Punchihewa, V Sandeepana, KLDJ Perera and RMNA rathnayake tied with six points out of possible 7 and the first three players won the Gold Silver and Bronze medals respectively. 25 % of the participants are upgraded to Major Division and they will remain as Major division Players if they participate in the Major Division Championships this year which will be held in Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Kurunegals from 1st to 3rd April 2010. Otherwise, They have to play in the Novices Division again.
