Sri Lanka Open International Rated Chess Championships 2015 was held from 20th to 24th August 2015 at the YMBA, Colombo 08. This prestigious event organized from 1972 was made internationally rated from 2006. The organizer of this event is Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. The tournament was 10 rounds swiss FIDE Open event with 393 players.

Four players tied for the first place in open event at 8.5/10 points each. FIDE Master GC Anuruddha, Candidate Master Chandana Wijekoon, MAN Danushka & Chamil Priyankara. However FM GC Anuruddha achieved the championship on a superior tie break score. CM Chandana Wijekoon & MAN Danushka became the 1st Runner Up and 2nd runner up respectively with 8.5/10 points.

Two players tied for the first place in Women category at 7/9 points each.Woman International Master SD Ranasinghe & BTAY Senarath. However WIM SD Ranasinghe achieved the women championship on a superior tie break score. Nethmi Nirasha Gamage became the second runner with 6.5/10 points.

Mr. Upali Gunasekara the principal of Royal College and the former president of CFSL was the chief guest of the event. Guests were Mrs. Buddhi Panagoda (Hony Secretary CFSL), Mr. Erosh Jayasinghe (International Arbiter and the chief arbiter of the event), Mr. Naditha Amarakoon (International Arbiter and the deputy chief arbiter of the event), Mr. Werochana Perera (International Arbiter and a executive committee member of CFSL) and Mr. Dayal Siriwardana (Treasure of CFSL)
