Golden Square International Chess Association - Member's Age Group Chess Tournament 2010 - Prize giving photos

The Prize Giving of the Annual Members Chess Tournament of the Golden Square International Chess Association was held today ( 31st July 2010 ) at the Lions Activity Centre Auditorium, Vidya Mawatha, Colombo 07. Commander Udaya Dampage, Chairman, Chess of Western Naval Commanding Area, Colombo Fort graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Madam Pushpakumara wife of Hon. Minister Jagath Pushpakumara, Mr. Susil Perera, Chairman & Managing Director of W.S.Perera and Sons, Mr. Jagath Manatunge, Senior Lecturer of University of Moratuwa, Mr. Sanath Martis, a famous Rugby Coach and Mr. Lasith Ratnayake, Junior Executive Officer of Hatton National Bank were also graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.

By welcoming the Special Guests, Prize Winners and the Parents Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya, President of the Golden Square International Chess Association mentioned that she got the opportunity to bring fame to the motherland by winning a Gold Medal at the 30th World Chess Olympiad in 1992 and that strength help her to do all these chess promotional activities in the country. She added parents must arrange more time for their children to play chess to help them to be our future masters.

Commander Udaya Dampage mentioned that chess help to think a head to get the correct decisions at correct time and that is the reason he do every thing to promote chess in the Naval Area also. Mr. Dampage appreciated the promotional activities continuously doing by Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya and her husband Mr. Bandula Withanage and her family members.
