The prize giving of the member’s chess tournament of the Golden Square International Chess Association was held at Lions Activity Centre on Friday, 10th April 2009. Mrs. Kshanika Hirimburegama, Vice Chancellor of Colombo University graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr. Anil Jasinghe, Director of Colombo South Teaching Hospital was the guest of honour at this event. While addressing the gathering Mrs. Hirimburegama mentioned about the achievements of her son International Rated player, Yasith Hirimburegama after learning chess from Mrs. Suneetha Wijesuriya. She advised the parents to give more help to their children to continue chess to be our future Grand Masters. She also admired the island wide promotional work that Mrs. Suneetha has continuously doing with the help of her husband, Mr. Bandula Withanage.
