Dinithi Panchali 2nd runner up in the Under 07 category of the World School Chess Championship 2013

Sri Lankan R M Dinithi Panchali finished 2nd runner up in the Under 07 category of the 9th world school chess championship 2013 which took place from 06th May to 15th May at Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece.Players from 41 countries took part in the world school chess Championships and total no of 541 players. That was the highest participation in the world school chess championship's history. This tournament held for the 9th consecutive year.
Panchali scored 6.5/9 at the tournament with 2 losses and 1 draw. Ezizova Bagul of Turkmenistan and Amina Kairbekova of Azerbaijan secured 1st and 2nd place respectively with 9/9 and 7/9 points.
Panchali is a student at Kegalu Balika Vidylaya and only 7 years old. This was her 1st tournament out of the country and she was able to show her colours from the very first chance she got. Dinithi is the 2nd person in Sri Lanka who was placed at the World School Chess Championships and first female player ever.
R M Dinithi Panchali is a very talented little girl with a great future ahead. We'll witness her more victories in Sri Lanka Chess in coming future.
