Young Thumula wins RJ Shield Open chess tournament in Australia

This month 30th of May he become a first from Open Chess Championship. ( full results)

 

Sri Lankan Thumula started to play chess in Australia from Anzac day open held in Melbourne Chess Club.next Victorian Juniors 2009 and RJ shield Chess Championship in July 2009. He became 3rd in u 12 in RJ Shield chess tournament.

he played Victorian inter School chess tournaments held in lighthouse College & Heatherhill primary School & he won gold medals. In Noblepark grades, Melbourne chess Club Anzac day open 2009,Victorian reserves , Australian Chess Championship (Minor) -Sydney Doberal Cup-Canberra he played with experienced players.

Once a month he played for RJ shild Open tournaments and he received 5 high distinction Certificates (finishing top 5% of players),& 3 Credit Certificates (finishing top 25% of Players) won 3rd places 2 times, Overall 2nd 1 time.

Now he has 1101 chess kids ratings & 951 Australian ratings. He received advance Chess training by GM Ian Rogers, David Cordover, Daniel Holten and now he selected to get training by GM Darreyl Johanson.

He like to Thanx his mother & father & Suneetha Wijesuriya , Manuel Aaron and other past and currant Chess Supporters.
