Sri Lanka Navy Wins the Russian Ambassador Challenge Trophy Chess Championship

After the final round ( 5th round ) Sri Lanka Navy won the above championship by collecting 16 points out of 20 games. Sri Lanka Navy team consisted with L.P.P.R. Jayanka, K.W.C.U. Silva, B.R.M. Madugalla, M.N.C. Jayarathna and L.D.P. Madusanka.
Ficher Chess Club won the 1st Runner up with 16 points and team consisted with Shehan Senevirathna, M.S.V.K. Koggala, R.S. Kalugampitiya, P.D. Senanayake and Abhimanju Rathnasekera.

Sampath Bank Chess Team won the 2nd Runner up by collecting 15 points and team consisted with Nishantha Withanage, Kalana Abeysinghe, Sanjeewa Subasinghe, Kasun Perera and Amila Basuru.

There were 35 teams participated in this tournament including the players in Schools, Chess Clubs, Sports Clubs, Universities, Government Organizations and Private Sectors.
Merit Awards won by the Paul Morphy Chess Women’s Team and Team consisted with Chandra Ratnayake, Sachini Ranasinghe, Samadhi Malalgoda, Supeshala Thillekawardena and Pravardhi Senarath. The above Team won the best women’s Award also. Women’s 2nd place won by Sri Jayawardenapura University and 3rd place among the women is University of Peradeniya.

Another Merit Award won by Old Joshapian’s Chess Club.
