Pesandu Rashmitha Liyanage of DS Senanayake College won both his Semi Final Games with Osheen De Silva of Sri Lanka Navy convincingly and advanced to the finals while S Sivathanujan of Kokavil Hindu College also advanced to the finals comfortably by scoring two comprehensive wins with his opponent, young Vinuda Shenal Gunatilake of Royal College.
Earlier in the league event Pesandu scored full points of 9 out of 9 while Vinuda scored 7 ½ points to win the Group A.
The Finals between Pesandu and Sivathanujan and the Consolation finals between Osheen and Vinuda will be played on Sunday, the 23rd January 2022 at the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka starting from 9.00 a.m.
Buddhika Amarasinghe of SJP Chess Club beat Kosala Sandeepa Amaratunge of Boswell College International, Kaluthara in the 5th place match.
In the finals, two games with white and Black per each player is played. If the result is 1 - 1, two Rapid Games with 15m + 10 seconds is played with either Colour. If still equal, two Blitz Games are played with 3m + 2 seconds if still tied an Armageddon game giving 5 minutes to white and 4 minutes to Black will be played and Black wins if the game is drawn.
CFSL has offered the following Cash awards with the medals and certificates:
Champion - Rs. 60,000/=
Runner -up - Rs. 40,000/=
3rd - Rs. 25,000/=
4th - Rs. 15,000/=
5th - Rs. 10,000/=
