Sri Lanka Girls National Youth Chess contingent to compete in the Asian Youth Online Chess Championship 2021

The Sri Lanka Girls Youth Chess contingent is to be compete in the Asian Youth Online Girls Chess Championships 2021 at this weekend. The National Youth girls Chess team, which consists of 17 female Chess players of 3 players each from under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 ages are selected from the Sri Lanka Youth Age Group Chess Championships 2021 of under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18, Open and Girls. The top three players of these events are included while 2 fourth players are included due to the absence of GHS Sanulya in under 12 and Sandeepani M Tharushi in under 16.event.
The Asian Youth Chess Championships 2021 is the most prestigious Chess tournament in Asia for the Youth Chess players. The Indian Chess Federation is organizing the event on behalf of the Asian Chess Federation this year. More than 1000 players have registered in this event which is held according to the Swiss system at Tornelo Platform. The time control is 15 minutes + 10 second increment per each move played and a total of 9 rounds will be played in each category. Three games each is played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 11.30 Sri Lanka time.
The Open category events will be played on the next week-end. The total contingent of Sri Lanka is 38 including the Under 10 Years Girls online World Chess Champion, Oshini Gunawardena, West Asian Gold Medalist, Harshana Thilakarathne, Sri Lanka National Chess Champion Ranindu Dilshan Liyanage. We hope that LMST de Silva, west Asian Under 18 Silver medalist and Esandi Newansa will also make the event interesting.
