Federation of Sri Lanka organized Inter Club B & Women Inter Club
Chess Championships for the club players in Sri Lanka. Both events were
held from 07th to 09th October 2016 at Girls High School, Mt Lavinia.
Prior to the finals there were selection events in four major zones. Colombo,
Kurunegala, Kandy and Galle. Selected teams from those zones played in
both the final events. Both events were held according to Swiss team system
with 05 rounds and time control was Fischer 90 minutes plus 30 seconds
increment from move 01. |

09 Clubs were competed in the Inter Club B Chess Championship. Blue and
Gold Chess Club won the championship with clear wins with 09 match points.
They were unbeaten thorough out the event and only drew to the University
of Sri Jayawardhanapura club who secured 1st Runners up position with
08 match points. Rahulians Chess Club had to satisfy with the 2nd Runners
Up. The top two teams in this year Inter Club B (Blue & Gold, USJP)
were qualified for the next year Super League Chess Championship. |

07 Clubs were competed in the Women Inter Club Chess Championship. 64
Squares Chess Club won the championship. They were unbeaten thorough out
the event and won all the rounds against their opponents. Eight Queens
Chess Club won the 1st Runners Up position with 08 match points. They
were only beaten by the 64 squares Chess Club in 02nd Round. Southlands
Chess Club won the 2nd Runners Up position with 05 match points. |
