Asian Chess News

The Asian Continental Meeting was held in Hanoi Vietnam, on 4th November 2009, parallel to the Asian Indoor Games 2009. This meeting, which was to be held in Greece in October, was postponed.

Two important decisions important to Sri Lanka was given below:

1. The Sri Lanka was accepted as the organizer of the 6th Asian School Chess Championship 2010 and Asian Junior Chess Championship 2011.

2. India was made a separate zone and other countries Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan was made a separate sub zone till the FIDE approved two Zones. This will guarantee one player from these six countries in the FIDE World cup, which is the 1st stage of the World Chess Championship Cycle.
