CFSL Honoured by Asian Chess Federation

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka won the Best Event of the year Award at the Inaugural Asian Excellence awarded conducted by the Asian Chess Federation on 25th June 2014 a Danat Hotel, Al Ain, UAE. Mr. Upali Gunasekara, the President of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka received the award from Mr. Kirzan Illumshinov, the President of World Chess Federation together with his Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Kalifa Al Nahyan, the President of Asian Chess Federation. This great event for the Asian region was approved in the 2013 General Assemly of ACF last year and implemented under the patronage of His Highness, Sheikh Sultan and the effort of Mr. Hisham Al Taher, the Secretary General of ACF.
The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka was awarded for their excellent organization of Asian Schools Chess Championships 2013 with the highest possible Condition. But, the Organization of Asian Youth 2012 in the greatest heights was also supported us for the awards since everyone accepts that they never get such excellent condition
GM Eugino Torre, the 1st Grandmaster in Asian was given a life time award considering his success and commitment to promote.

1. The Man of the Year - Ruler of Sharjah, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, whose generous donation helped build the biggest chess club in the world valued at $10 million
2. The Player of the Year - GM Vishwanatna Anand,
3. The Female player of the year - GM Hou Yifan, The Women’s World Chess Champion
4. The Best team And Women’s Team of the Year – Chinese Chess Federation
5. The Best Blitz Chess Player - GM Le Quang Liem of Vietnam, World Blitz Champion
6. The Best Junior Player of the year (Under 20) - GM Yu Yangyi of China, World Junior Champion
7. The Best Girls player of the year (Under 20) - WGM Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan
8. The Best Youth Chess Player of the Year - FM Li Di of China
9. The Best Youth Girls Player of the year - Abdusattorova Bakhora of Uzbekistan
10. The Most Active Chess Federation – All India Chess Federation
11. The Best Coach of the year - GM Evgeny Vladimirov of Kazakhstan
12. The Best Organizer - Jinwoo Song of Korea, organizer Asian Indoor Games Chess event
13. Chess Patron of the Year – Mr. Manny Pacquao of the Philippines for commitment for Asian Continental.
14. Best Chess Movement of the year – Chess Federation of Saudi Arabia & Laos towards Chess Growth and Development.
