The 3rd edition of the Southern Province Premier - Over 20 tournament is scheduled be held in Galle on 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th October, 2008. The tournament which will be mainly sponsored by Harishchandra Mills (Pvt) Ltd, Matara is a 7-round Swiss System tournament.

The reigning national champion and the winner of the inaugural event MKA Russell has already confirmed his participation while almost all the big guns in Southern province are expected to appear in the event. The winners will be awarded by thropies and attractive cash prizes while all the participants are given prizes as well. Akila Miraj who claimed the 2007 title in the absense of Athula Russell is expected to face tough resistence from the rest of the field to defend his title.

Venue: Devapathiraj College Chess Hall (in the second weekend the venue will be some beach hotel in Hikkaduwa :))

Eligibility: All the players who live in Southern Province & born in 1988 or earlier
