at the 3rd MORA Kings International Rating Chess Championship
2010 |
| There was a record number of 300 odd players participated in the 3rd
MORA Kings International Rating Chess Championships organized by the University
of Moratuwa, on behalf of the Chess Federation
of Sri Lanka. The event, which was held from 21st to 25th
at University Of Moratuwa, Library was highly
successful. The University of Moratuwa had offered
a total cash prize and others of Rs. 250,000/= worth. |
| Akshat Kamparia, A FIDE Master from
India won the event with a high score of 8 ½ points out of total
9 games. He just drew with young Dimithry Premachandra but later had some excellent performance to grab
the Trophy, Gold Medal and Rs. 40,000/= in cash. GC Anuruddha
won the 2nd place with 8 points while Romesh
Weerawardena, won the Bronz
medal after tying with Marlon Fernando and DRNKB Dehigama. |
| The women's Championship was won by the Sri Lankan Women's National Champion,
Dinushki Premanath
after tying with Irindu Basnayake
with 6 ½ points. Pramodya Senanayake
won the bronz medal after tying with LGAI Liyanagedara, SD Ranasinghe and
Thinithi Ranasinghe with 6 points.
